I enjoyed a regular yoga practice at my local studio and thought spending some time focused on my practice would help me take it that step further and potentially give me a skill I could pass on to others. I had no idea how much I could learn and gain in five weeks. Zoe, Chris and Phil all inspired with their knowledge and passion for the different areas they focused on. Zoe’s understanding of the postures and people’s limitations enables her to guide and develop her students. She easily recognises those being challenged and those in need of a more advanced posture to take them beyond their current, often mental, restrictions. Her energy, control and commitment to her practice shines through in all of her classes.
The anatomy and philosophy elements really brought depth and a new focus to my knowledge of yoga. I gained a greater understanding of my body and what to look for in others. The historical and philosophical background to yoga, brought to light a wealth of information and relevance that I had not before contemplated. Encouraging us all to look at our own lives, though sometimes difficult and to reflect on how we can enhance both our bodies and minds with the practice of yoga.
While undertaking this course I also met an amazing group of people. All from different backgrounds but with similar reasons to be there, the need for change and challenge. Through the sweat, tears, 5am starts, silent times, exhaustion and combined team effort we achieved our goals and much more, all whilst making some amazing friends.
